MayaQuest

Previous

MayaQuest follows a team of adventurers as they traverse the rainforests of Mexico, Guatemala and Belize in search of lost Maya cities and the secrets to saving the environment. For the third year in a row, MayaQuest will be followed and driven by kids, teachers and families online as they vote on the team's route, help them make decisions, and collaborate with the world's top archaeologists.

Featured on national television, including ABC's Prime Time Live and Newton's Apple

Students guide the program by posing questions on the Internet to participating archaeologists and explorers.

Classes receive updates from the field, view on-site photos, and post their own discoveries.

Students use the Internet to share their insights and questions with kids from other cities, states and countries - a true classroom without walls.

Teachers receive a wealth of off-line activities that guide interdisciplinary extensions into science, history and Spanish.

Motivates educators to incorporate Internet resources into their instruction.

The MayaQuest Classroom Kit includes

- Subscriber-only access to the project's website for one classroom.

- Direct interaction with the team to vote on where they go, what they do, and online conversations.
